From August 7 2006, Bath Spa will be the only place in the UK where you can bathe in natural, hot spring water ? just as people have been doing in the city of Bath for two thousand years.

In fact, Bath England is said to owe its very existence to the hot springs that well up here. Legend has it that back in the mists of time, Bladud was a prince who was banished from court when he contracted leprosy. He became a swineherd and took his pigs into the marshy ground where springs rose up by the River Avon. He noticed that the pigs which wallowed in the black mud no longer suffered scurvy and immersed himself. His leprosy was cured, he returned to court in triumph and eventually became king.

The Reason Why Direct Internet Marketers Have To Work So Hard To Earn Our Trust

A bad attitude to customer service can literally destroy your business.

So, I thought I’d share my response to what I read on an Internet Marketing Forum recently to illustrate my point.

It started with a genuine request made by someone looking to do the right thing despite having a frustrating run of luck…

“I’ve been asked for three refunds this WEEK. The product is a proven one that I’ve sold for 6 months and my refund rate is normally TINY. I have only been asked for four refunds ever. One of the reasons I’ve been given are crazy – He thought the product in question (which is about creating Income streams) was about Gardening – I kid you not!

I gave the refund because I couldn’t think what to say to him, but it brought up the question of refunds? Should you ALWAYS give refunds when requested or do you sometimes argue the point?

So do you ALWAYS give refunds?”

One response which (due to the added fact that other people agreed with it) made me livid was…

“A seller on eBay was asking a similar question to yourself and the response was: ‘eBay isn’t a branch of Marks & Sparks, tell them to get stuffed!’ Brilliant! I have actually used this response myself when dealing with timewaster buyers on eBay (minus the ‘get stuffed’ bit as I always try to be polite and professional) and it hasn’t resulted in a tit-for-tat negative rating yet!”

    So here’s what I wrote…

“This is for all people who think it’s funny to treat unhappy customers like a**holes!

I always give refunds when offering an unconditional guarantee – even when the mistake was “their fault”.

People who believe and who worship, socialize or otherwise congregate with their fellow believers bring even more positive energy into their lives – and what’s even better, if those around you believe as well and you are aware that they are actively praying or otherwise working for your benefit, then that betokens even greater wellness and happiness for you on top of whatever benefits accrue to you from your own activities.

Having a strong belief system is a major factor in remaining strong, healthy and vigorous throughout life and up until the very end. Some may shrug it off as a placebo effect (the mind “fooling” the body into better health and happiness) but most agree that in the end it really doesn’t matter what the “true” cause is – the results are measurable, provable, consistent and nothing short of amazing in their effectiveness. So what do you believe in and how do you nurture that belief? Finding a system of belief and devoting time and energy to maintaining and growing that in your life can pay big dividends in your life. Consider it health insurance of a sort – insurance for which the premium is paid in faith and you are the “soul” benefactor.

How Facebook became a social-media behemoth

Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Aug 10, 2010 by Rickie Roberts The Philadelphia Inquirer

“The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company That Is Connecting the World” by David Kirkpatrick; Simon & Schuster (335 pages, $26)

If you read a lot of business books, you will surely be aware that there are a number of subgenres under the overall heading.

There’s the self-help business book, or “How to Become a CEO in 60 Days or Less.” There’s the how-to, based on specific disciplines and full of charts, graphs, arrows and such. And there’s the biography, sometimes a postmortem of corporations or industries gone wrong and sometimes a reflection on companies and industries remarkably gone right.

David Kirkpatrick brings us an open and honest view of the adventures of Mark Zuckerberg and friends, who started Facebook in Zuckerberg’s dorm room when he was a student at Harvard University. The book would read like fiction, if you didn’t know it was true.

If I had read “The Facebook Effect” back in 1978, I would have found it to be future-fiction. I would have likened it to Robert Heinlein’s “Stranger in a Strange Land” (1961) in which an innocent, even naive, creature comes to our planet and, with little experience of the human race, brings humans together in ways that only an innocent can.

There are no Martians in “The Facebook Effect” and no one dies, but the innocent nature of Facebook’s initial partnering is key to the story past, present, and future.

It took only a few years for Facebook to become the preeminent online social networking site and a global business giant, reaching 500 million users this summer. Facebook is now available in 70 languages to 90 percent of the global population. It has affected the way we communicate personally, professionally, and politically, across nations and continents.

As one of the most successful startups ever, Facebook also has affected the way business executives approach innovation.

Kirkpatrick, who has written extensively about the Internet and technology in his position as a senior editor at Fortune magazine and as the creator of Fortune’s Brainstorm conference series, had access to interviews with principal players that no one else has ever had. That access, combined with Kirkpatrick’s own experience in the growth and ever-changing nature of the Internet, makes him a master in telling this tale.

The story of how Facebook came to be (beat out various competitors and opened up the world to a kind of scary connectivity unprecedented in any form in history) is among the most compelling business narratives of our time.

As a Harvard sophomore with a genius-sized talent for computer programming and a keen interest in social psychology, Zuckerberg devised a program that would connect students at Harvard in a new way.

Zuckerberg and his roommates/partners, Dustin Moskovitz and Christopher Hughes, played around with various techno-forms of connectivity

The result is the reduced functioning of all body muscles including that of the bowel wall. The frequent use of these drugs can result in severe constipation.

Overweight persons are the most prone to constipation and leg pain. Pregnant ladies are also more prone to have both conditions at the same time. Menstrual cramps and the use of some unnatural drugs which irritate the lower nerves can also result in constipation and leg pain. Pelvic bone dysfunctions are another common cause.

Drinking plenty of water and eating fruits can help in good functioning of the muscles, which in turn helps to manage both constipation and leg pain.

Constipation provides detailed information on constipation, cat constipation, causes of constipation, chronic constipation and more. Constipation is affiliated with Are Cold Sores Contagious? ..

Often one or more children in the family assume an adult role & take over household responsibilities as well as caretaking of other siblings due to the unavailability of a parent or inability of a parent to perform necessary household and caretaking tasks. Usually the parent and child lack bonding experiences which can result in impaired social experiences.

When a psychotic outbreak, episode or suicide attempt occurs there is an increased reliance and dependence of the ill family member on the rest of the members. Quite often the ill member is in denial of the outbreak and usually experiences confusion, anger and despair. The ill member needs a safe place, food and lots of rest. Meanwhile…..

The rest of the family members are left in a state of shock, crisis and chaos while left to care for the needs of the ill family member.

There are a lot of different variants of IRAs but what is common between them is that when the funds are taken from the account, they are taxed as income funds; since the income of an employee is higher than that of the retired person, it is better to take the funds from the account during retirement: the tax level on these funds will be lower. The certain variants of IRA plans may be also used for general reduction of taxes.

Another retirement planning variant that I consider to be rather suitable for myself is the Registered Retirement Savings Plan used in Canada. The conditions of this plan are similar to IRA but it offers several advantages compared to IRA, the major of them being: the possibility to receive a tax protection on the profits gained within the RRPS account, the opportunity of making the contributions less with each year of investing into this retirement plan (because of tax deduction on the invested sum) and finally the possibility to use progressive tax system when investing together with husband or wife (this variant is also regarded by some variants of IRA).
According to my financial situation, I would rather choose a variant of IRA or RRPS because they give more freedom concerning taking the funds from the account.

Robinson photographer’s best shots for the birds

    0 Comments | Tribune – Review / Pittsburgh Tribune – Review, Sep 2, 2010 | by Sandra Fischione Donovan

Doris Dumrauf knows where the wild things are, and her three awards for bird photography are visual proof.

Dumrauf, of Robinson, recently won a first-place award in the “feathered friends” category of Birds & Blooms magazine’s 2010 photographic contest. She won for her picture of a tufted titmouse, taken in 2005 in her backyard.

“I’m just overwhelmed to win three prizes,” says the self- employed photographer. “This is the one people most respond to.”

Dumrauf took the photo with her Canon 10-D digital camera, outfitted with a 400 mm Canon lens EF, 1:55.6. The photo depicts the crested bird airborne flying just above a branch of an elm tree in the Dumraufs’ backyard.

She won $250 from the magazine, as her photo was first chosen as one of five finalists in its category, then as a category winner chosen by readers. It also went on to compete with photos in other categories but did not win the grand prize.

“I want to emphasize what a big deal this is,” said Birds & Blooms editor Stacy Tornio. “We get hundreds of entries, sometimes over 10,000 a year. … It’s a fun photo that really captures a moment.”

Many people like hummingbirds and Dumrauf’s photo even beat out the hummingbird entry, which Tornio called “pretty amazing.”

It’s the third such award Dumrauf has won with that photograph. The first was a first-place award in 2005 from Wildbird magazine, for which she won a pair of binoculars

Home kitchens frequently reflect the preferences of professional chefs. Ergo. Brushed steel appliances and gas ranges with more than four burners abound. It takes some planning to create a kitchen in which it?s easy to picture a good cook at work, even more to actually be that kind of kitchen.

It?s necessary to answer some questions in order to plan a good kitchen. Do you want to be able to socialize there? Will you be cooking for frequent dinner parties or large family gatherings? Is there more than one cook in the household? Does someone in the family like to bake? Are quickie meals for family members about to go off to some athletic event a frequent consideration? How many of these activities are likely to happen at the same time?

A kitchen planner can be a great helper and doesn?t have to add to the expense.
